Dr. Mussie Sibhatu – Prosthodontist
A trusted and talented dentist and prosthodontist at Laurel Smile Dentistry, Mussie Sibhatu, DDS, MS collaborates with other dental care providers and with each patient to create the best solutions for optimal dental health. As a prosthodontist, he has extensive training beyond his dentistry degree.
Dr. Sibhatu attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI for both his dental degree and his three-year specialty training in prosthodontics. He puts his training and skill to work every day by treating patients of all ages using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques. He has led our team to a Best of Oakland recognition in 2021, 2022, and 2023!
He has advanced training in dental implants, removable dentures, cosmetic dentistry, and full-mouth reconstruction. He can repair smiles that have suffered even severe dental damage. He also offers crowns, bridges, tooth extraction, and many other general and advanced dentistry services.
Periodontist / Implant Surgeon
Dr. Dave Rustamzadeh – Periodontist / Implant Surgeon
Dr. David Rustamzadeh, or as we like to call him, Dr. Dave was raised in Almaden Valley in San Jose, California. He attended Leland High School and earned his Bachelors from Santa Clara University. He then went on to get his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from NYU followed by a residency program in General Dentistry. Following his residency program, Dr. Dave successfully completed a Post-Graduate Periodontics program at Boston University where he earned a Certificate of Periodontology concomitant with a Master of Science in oral biology.
After a year of private practice in Manhattan, he decided it was time to move back to his home in the Bay Area. He has now been serving patients in the Bay Area since 2006 and joined our practice in 2023. Dr. Dave comes in monthly to help our patients with periodontal and implant therapy.
General Dentist
Dr. Andrew Ha – General Dentist
Dr. Andrew Ha was born and raised in the Bay Area. He spent most of his childhood in Alameda and Oakland until he attended a Buddhist boarding school. After graduating from high school, Dr. Ha attended De Anza College and later transferred to the University of California, Davis. He received a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with an emphasis in medical microbiology.
He then completed his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry. During his time at UCSF, he had great interest in teaching and mentoring the future generation of dentists. Afterwards, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at the University of the Pacific. Andrew received advanced training in treating medically complex and special needs patients. He also received training in prosthodontics, crowns and veneers, Invisalign, digital impression dentistry, restoring single and multiple implants, All-On-4 concept, removable partial dentures, and complete dentures.
Dr. Ha is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Alameda County Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry. He has proudly volunteered his time with the Tzu Chi Foundation, Fountain Project, Veterans Stand down event in Antioch, and CDA Cares Events. Dr. Ha also participated as a volunteer dentist for the Special Olympic Events, Give Special Kids a Smile, Give Kids A Smile, and Give Veterans a smile. He volunteered and mentored pre-dents for the UC Davis Pre Health Conference and SFSU’s Education and Opportunities Program. Dr. Ha is committed to his patients’ health and success through a comprehensive treatment approach. He prides himself in educating patients on their oral health care. He is a general dentist who works alongside specialists in order to deliver quality care. In his spare time, Dr. Ha enjoys playing basketball, watching NBA games, videoing, traveling, and being with his family.
General Dentist
Dr. Emma Pollack – General Dentist
Dr. Pollack grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California Santa Barbara for her undergraduate studies. She graduated from Rutgers Dental School in New Jersey in 2013. After completing her dental residency in New York City, she moved to the East Bay Area and has since been practicing there as a family dentist. She also volunteers her time at the Berkeley Free Dental Clinic.
Dr. Pollack has a very warm and personal approach with her patients and knows that one treatment option does not fit all. She believes it is important for a patient to be fully informed in order to make the best decisions for their oral health. She prides herself in her ability to listen to her patient's needs and ease their anxieties.
When she’s not providing exceptional dental care for her patients, you might find her hiking around the Bay Area with her husband, daughters, and the family dog.
Oral Surgeon
Dr. Jay Fedorowicz – Oral Surgeon
Dr. Fedorowicz was born in Taiwan and raised in Idaho. He attended Old Dominion University, where he earned a Bachelor/Master of Science in Biochemistry. Dr. Fedorowicz’s passion for dentistry led him to pursue a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with multiple awards.
Following his dental education, Dr. Fedorowicz completed a rigorous Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) residency at David Grant Medical Center, Fairfield, California. This program provided him with extensive training in surgical techniques, patient care, and the management of complex facial and dental issues. He also completed a fellowship from the University of California San Francisco Fresno, further enhancing his scope of practice to include head and neck surgery.
Dr. Fedorowicz began his practice as a military surgeon while serving in the United States Air Force. During his tour of duty in Japan, Korea, Florida, and California. He was known for his compassionate approach and meticulous skill. He quickly gained a reputation for excellence in procedures ranging from facial cosmetic procedures and dental implants to wisdom tooth extractions and complex reconstructive surgeries and trauma care. His commitment to patient education ensures that his patients are well-informed and comfortable with their treatment plans.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Fedorowicz was involved in academic medicine as a faculty member at the UCSF Fresno OMS program. He also served as the Chairman of the David Grant Medical Center OMS Residency Program, where he taught and mentored OMS residents.
Dr. Fedorowicz believes in giving back to the community. He participated in outreach programs that provided oral surgery care to underserved populations abroad.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Fedorowicz enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, honing his golf game, and enjoying life with his dog, Mukku.
